Post Summit and Safari Update

Jambo Everyone,

I'm sorry I haven't been able to post in quite some time as I've really packed in so much into this trip and have not had the access or time to update. I will be updating each day as it occurs for the Kili climb starting in the next couple of days. I just completed the Safari section today and will be heading to Amani tomorrow. So amped for that! So until then, here is a very brief overview of my last two sections completed.

On the Kilimanjaro Climb:

I don't have the words at the moment but the experience was amazing. Too many images to capture. On summit day, we started the climb at midnight (after a 5 hour climb earlier that day). The weather was clear and perfect and we were aided by a full moon. There was a bit of drama on our team as we almost lost one member, but she battled back with a shot of Red Bull. :)

On the summit itself, one thing I can tell you, is that man is not meant to be at 20K feet. Felt very strong right before the summit to Stella ridge (about 1.5 miles from Kibo), and I made the mistake of sprinting to catch the sunrise. As such, I had a Maj headache after that. You Just don't know how your body reacts at that altitude till your there. Got some great images of the view of Mt Mawenzi, The Glacier, the moon and landscape. Will be posting these soon.

On the Safari:

Just returned today and to be honest, I was not all that jazzed for this section. But what an incredible experience, I've never seen animals in this setting before. I came soo close to some huge animals including a couple of very old elephants and a Lion. On top of that, I was able to venture into one of the seven wonders of the world: The NGoranGora Crater which houses some of the most unreal set of animal and plant life. Got some great shots of all these animals including the Big 5. :)

But for now, I've got to get some sleep as I have another busy day tomorrow. Take care and I will update you soon with a day by day synopsis.

Asante,

Tony
